Quinton Gardner is an operatic bass-baritone, heavy metal vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and record artist/producer based in Portland, OR whose work spans theatre, opera, and contemporary music.
Recent credits include Dick Hallorann in Paul Moravec's The Shining (2025); performances with Sweet Honey in the Rock, and the West Coast premiere of North American Indigenous Songbook with Resonance Ensemble; The Majesty of the Spiritual, curated by Robert Sims; creating the role of Jack in Third Angle New Music's world premiere of Maria Finkelmeier's Dies Irae, Desirée; playing the parts Morales, Zuniga, and El Dancaïre in Opera in the Park Portland's 2025 concert production of Carmen; singing bass in the chorus of the Verdi Requiem for Portland Opera (2026) and Balthazar in Pin & Woof's Amahl & The Night Visitors (2026).
In previous years he was also involved in the chorus for the world premiere of Damien Geter's An African American Requiem, as well as the subsequent concert at the Kennedy Center in DC (2022); he portrayed the role of the Reverend Billy Noble in Ruby Fulton & Baynard Woods' Adam's Run, and performed with Resonance alongside the OBF Chorus for their 2025 Carmina Burana.
Outside the theatre, Gardner is the founder, principal songwriter, and frontman of Full Metal Jackson, and a creative collaborator and voice talent with Lightbreaker. He is a voice teacher specializing in both Classical Fundamentals as well as Extreme/Extended vocal technique.
